ORPHAN SUNDAY
Orphan Sunday and Stand Sunday are the best ways for any church to give a voice and bring awareness to the plight of orphans and vulnerable children. On Orphan or Stand Sunday, Christians are called to stand for the orphan. We are challenged and become aware that we are a people called to defend the fatherless, to care for the child that has no family, and to visit orphans in their distress. Each locally-led event can use sermons, small groups, concerts, prayer gatherings, shared meals and youth activities, all with the purpose of exposing believers to God’s heart to care for orphans and vulnerable children.
Each November, the Christian Alliance for Orphans seeks to bring a unified voice and coordinated effort to thousands of events held across America and around the globe, all sharing a single goal: to share God’s great love for the orphan and vulnerable child. Orphan Sunday and Stand Sunday opens the door for the church to begin to implement practical responses to caring for orphans through foster care, adoption and global orphan care. Although the unified Orphan Sunday and Stand Sunday event takes place in November, your church can hold an Orphan or Stand Sunday service or event, any time during the year that best fits your church calendar.
